Note from Pat
After many years of looking at various
alarm systems, I feel this (Armed Guard Alarm systems) is the one I can stand behind.
This system is complete, very high quality, made in the US
* and made by someone who understands motorcycles. The bike
specific wiring kits make it a snap for any rider doing a
self install.
Alarm systems
complement Locks. (and vice versa)
When purchasing security for your bike, always keep in mind that an
alarm, by itself, will not sufficiently protect your bike. The key is to
slow down the theft process by locking the bike, with serious locks, to
a stationary object or another bike.
(see tips and advice)
A noisy alarm will make it really difficult to cut locks off a bike.
Being warned by a pager is a bonus but without the extra lock protection, bikes can be easily
lifted and thrown into a van or trailer.
I have heard countless testimonies from people whose bikes were saved simply
because the thieves ran out of time.
Nobody even looks, Alarms don't do a thing,
The bike can be picked up, etc etc... This is
what I hear all the time at events and read on
forums. This nonsense is coming from people who
really don't have a clue. The same people that
tell me lock so and so can be cut. Well...duh...
Securing a bike is about making it difficult to
take, making the would-be thief loose too much
time and placing them under more pressure than
they really want to be under.
Is there a 100% fool-proof system? Of course
not. But by locking up your bike, with a serious
lock and installing a good alarm system, you are
way ahead of the game and stand a really good
chance of discouraging a thief. |
