A variable controller is essential to control the temperature in heated motorcycle, ATV or snowmobile gear. An on/off switch will always operate the heated clothing at full power. Not only will this often be uncomfortable, it also places excessive strain on your bike's electrical system and your heated gear. A common error is to confuse puls-width modulating controllers with old school rheostats. A rheostat is a variable resistor. Although it limits the amount of power reaching your heated garment, it does not lower the amount of power used by the gear. Pulse-width modulating controllers use state of the art electronics to cycle the current on and off and actively reduce the amount of amps drawn on your electrical system. We do not sell rheostat controllers. We divided our selection of controllers over 3 pages. DC Coax connectors, SAE connectors or heated grip controllers (without connectors). DC Coax is the most common type and used by 95% of all heated clothing manufacturers. Pretty much all are using the standard 2.5mm DC Coax connector. SAE, or often referred to as a Battery Tender plug, is found on some older gear and a few less well established brands. If you have older Widder heated clothing, Widders proprietary 2 prong connector is no longer available. |
