Oxford BOSS Alarmed padlock can be used with the alarm activated or without. Handy when the lock is in use on a moving vehicle. OF3 has a 14mm (0.54") hardened steel shackle double secured into a plastic encased steel lock body which houses the alarm unit electronics and a replaceable battery pack. 3 high security abloy type keys are supplied as well as bright yellow reminder cord for use a motorcycle disc lock. BOSS OF3 is a great match with our 14mm Maximum Security Chains.
To activate the alarm, simply insert the shackle with the red band matching the red arrow on the lock (reverse secures the shackle without arming). When tampered with, the alarm will go off for about 10 seconds and re-arm itself.

Looks intimidating, but the alarm is far from "ear splitting", don't expect it to hear it unless you are close to where you left your bike, that said it is still a better deterrence than no alarm at all, the lock itself is very strong and versatile, the brake discs on my ride are wider than most others so the long shackle allowed me to fit this on it when almost all other padlock style disc locks have shackles that are too short for them.
Think of the alarm as a bonus added to an already hefty padlock and you won't be dissapointed.
