Folding link locks combine higher levels of security with space saving and easy to carry advantages. They are generally a step up over lower security cable locks and close in strength, if not equal, with most chain locks. Back in the late eighties, Yamaha introduced the Cyclelok, featuring 6 round linked bars and a tubular key system. Today, it is German market leader ABUS who took the concept to the next level with it's extensive line of Bordo folding locks.
For 2012, ABUS upgraded the BORDO line with new models as well as improvements to existing models. However, they kept the same model numbers on 6000, 6100 and 6500 Bordo. This means you can find the same model Bordo lock with slightly different features. At Lockitt, we decided to start calling these Generation 1 and 2
