I have a 54 U-lock, and this clamp was crazy difficult to put on. It was slightly too tight, even after completely removing the screws. I needed to use a hammer to carefully tap it onto the shackle. Once on the shackle, I thought that the tightness would mean it was securely fastened, but instead it rotated surprisingly easily, and it was not possible to clip it into the holder. It took a lot of turning force on the screws to get it to stop rotating, and I'm still worried whenever I attach it to the bike.
Still, it works well now that it's attached and the lock is out of the way but accessible.
Note From Store Owner: Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, the shackle clamps have a very tight fit on the U lock shackle. But we installed many and they slide over the shackle fairly easy (some force applied). of course a small portion of vinyl cover needs to be removed from the shackle before installing the clamp.
Something in this review makes no sense though.
The shackle on the 54 and 540 U locks is not a round profile. It is square. It is impossible to rotate the shackle clamp on the shackle, even without having the screws in.

...It will hold stuff to your bike and keep random passerby from indulging in sudden bouts of kleptomania, still better than leaving your things unsecured and up for grabbings but anyone with a pair pliers in their pocket will be able to cut it, so don't tie up anything valuable to it, although Abus's build quality will buy you a few extra seconds compared to a cheap cable, maybe.
Note From Store Owner: All cables, no matter what brand or even size, are indeed low level security.
Cable locks, with some planning and the correct tools, can easily be defeated.
However, most theft is opportunity and a cable can make a difference when someone walks by, grabs that helmet or jacket and just keeps walking.
Gone under 10 seconds ..... or not.

The service Lockitt provided was very good. Regarding the locks themselves: the weather resistant covers are attractive and unmarred. The main bodies of the steel locks are roughly machined and have several casting flaws. The shackles are covered with nicks and scratches to the protective plating. The stamping of the word 'boron' on the shackles is sloppy and uneven. Lastly the shackles tops are flattened instead of having a pleasing rounded, curved shape. The Squire locks I purchased in the past have all proven super strong and tough, but they are also finely crafted. I would think that a company so long in business would not only continue superior engineering but also continue with superior finish. This is decidedly not the case in these two most recent, very expensive locks I purchased.
