ABUS 83AL/40 is part of the solid aluminum padlock series and ideal for corrosive environments. As with all 83 series house-key padlocks, the cylinders are available in a wide variety third party key ways. The most common once Schlage and Kwikset. Setting the lock to your existing house-door key eliminates the need to carry extra keys.
Series 2 83 locks have a NANO PROTECT coated steel shackle for extra corrosion protection.
All 83 series locks have easy interchangeable shackles in case you need a longer or shorter shackle, can be switched from key-retaining to non key-retaining in seconds.
A very common use for this lock in on Pelican hard cases, the lock fitted with a 1" shackle.
Cylinder Options:
ABUS 83 series padlocks are factory fitted with a Schlage or Kwikset * compatible cylinder with blank key. You receive a zero bitted lock and 1 key blank per lock which will open the lock.
The idea being to re-key the cylinder to a house key you already own. You can take the lock to any locksmith to have it quickly re-keyed or if you have a pin set, it is easy to re-key yourself. The supplied blank key can be cut to match your existing key.

Alternatively all 83 locks can be ordered fitted with the ABUS 888 Restricted cylinder.
Simply order the padlock version without cylinder, add the 888 cylinder and we custom fit it for you.
